How to Cancel Microsoft 365
Here’s how to cancel your Microsoft 365 subscription or free trial:
In April of 2020, the Microsoft Office 365 subscription suite became Microsoft 365, adding new and improved features, including artificial intelligence, new content and templates, and additional cloud functionality.
- Navigate to Microsoft365.com and select the sign-in icon in the upper-right corner.
- Sign in to your Microsoft account.
- Select My Account.
- Select Services & Subscriptions from the top menu bar.
- Next to Microsoft 365, select Manage.
- Select Cancel Subscription in the right column.
- Select Turn off recurring billing on the next screen to confirm.
- A confirmation screen displays and indicates that you turned off recurring billing for the Microsoft 365 subscription.
- You retain access to Microsoft 365 until your next renewal date. After that, you aren’t charged, but you lose access to the service.
What Happens When You Cancel Microsoft 365?
When you cancel your Microsoft 365 subscription, you retain full access to the service until your next renewal date.
Navigate to Microsoft365.com and select the sign-in icon in the upper-right corner.
Sign in to your Microsoft account.
Select My Account.
Select Services & Subscriptions from the top menu bar.
Next to Microsoft 365, select Manage.
Select Cancel Subscription in the right column.
Select Turn off recurring billing on the next screen to confirm.
A confirmation screen displays and indicates that you turned off recurring billing for the Microsoft 365 subscription.
You retain access to Microsoft 365 until your next renewal date. After that, you aren’t charged, but you lose access to the service.
Refunds are available for Microsoft 365 only under specific circumstances. For example, if you purchased an annual subscription within the last 30 days or have a monthly subscription. Contact Microsoft customer service to determine if you’re eligible for a refund.
After you cancel Microsoft 365, you lose access to any bonuses, such as extra OneDrive storage and Skype minutes, that you may have received as a part of the subscription. You retain access to these bonuses until the end of your current subscription term.
After you cancel, and your subscription runs out, you can use Microsoft 365 in View Only mode. This limited mode lets you open and print documents, but you can’t make changes or create new documents.
