Microsoft is making Gears 5 free to play through April 12, 2020. According to Xbox Wire, the offering is available for anyone with an Xbox Live Gold as part of “Free Play Days.” If you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, the third-person shooter is already available to you.
The news comes after The Coalition unveiled a new upgrade (Operation 3 Gridiron) for the game, which introduces new content, including new characters, modes, maps, and more, and it’ll be available at no extra cost for Gears 5 owners on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam.
The game is about “two teams fighting to run a neutral flag into their opponent’s end zone. Race to be the first team to hit 13 points to win, where you and your team fight to seize the flag, control weapons, and key positions in each short two-minute round.” In addition, if you play now through April 20, 2020, you will receive the Batista Bomb execution and Batista skin.
